Hello sweet friend!
Thank you so-so much for all of your lovely comments! I do so love hearing from you, and your wishes and stories just makes me so happy.
BIG hugs goes out to all of you!
I'm feeling much better now. My morning sickness has subsided (THANK GOOODNESS) and I can actually enjoy a meal. Man... if it's one thing I hate, it's feeling nauseous. I'd rather have my arm caught off than feeling this way.
Now my next obstacle is tackling the gestational diabetes. UGH... Have any of you had this? Are you diabetic? Anyone? If any of you haven't, let me just tell you... IT SUCKS! For someone who LOVES food and has lived a carefree life of eating whatever tickles my fancy, it really stinks. NO more cookies... NO more monkey bread (OMG, which you have got try this recipe, BTW)... NO more yellow cake with milk chocolate icing...
{{sigh}}
Luckily, GD (gestational diabetes) is only during pregnancy. After the little bean is born, I'm a free woman! BUT, 9 months is a long time. Oh dear Lord... please give me strength!!! Yes, yes. I know... there's always "sugar free". Okay. When I get desperate enough, I'll try it.
Sharing is caring, dear friend, so if you have any good recipes or know of some yummy "sugar free" goodies, PLEASE-PLEASE-PLEASE share!
Well I'm off to have a snack... sugar free of course!

I had gestational diabetes with Alyssa and well... first thing I reached for when she was born was Andrew's KitKat!!! Poor kid, he was two, had just opened it and I was feinding for it!! lol!! My dad went and bought him another one! It does SUCK, I just ate less of everything and ate what I liked. I'm too picky. NO SODA, NO CANDY, but with the foods... I ate what I liked, just very little of it so she wouldn't over grow which was the main issue for me with the diabetes. I don't have diabetes since I pushed her out, and she hasn't had it either. ONLY problem is you have an 80% chance of developing regular diabetes by the time this baby turns 18. (The reason I dropped almost 30 lbs recently! Hahaha!)

Hi,
I have been following your blog for awhile now and never commented because I didn't feel like I had anything useful to contribute. I am due June 17 with baby #2 and have been dealing with GD for a few months now. I have found that as long as I usually stuck to my schedule and diet I could have little snacks and still have great blood sugar levels. The other day I had a brownie for my afternoon snack and my levels were still great and within range. Talk to your doctor of course, but my doctor and nutritionist said I could still have what I wanted but in moderation. If I want ice cream I have no sugar added ice cream or frozen yogurt with a few strawberry slices and walnuts. Very tasty. As time goes on you will learn what your body can handle. Good luck! Best wishes with your GD and new baby!

I also had GD, 14 years ago when I was expecting my son. At first, I felt like there was nothing I could eat. Everything has sugar in it!! But I got through that long, hot, pregnant summer. Sugar-free iced tea and ice cream were my best friends. Cutting back on the carbs is the best thing, but how I love my bread and pasta! It's not easy. But it is temporary. Best of luck to you.

I too had the joy of gestational diabetes with both of my pregnancies. It was awful!! I found that fruit was typically fine and it did help tame the sweet tooth a bit... apples were my best friend. I didn't do sugar free (big ick!)at all and instead would occasionally save all my carbs for dessert. You can get away with a scoop of ice cream or a small brownie if you only ate meat and vegetables for dinner! You can survive it, which is hard to fathom, and that baby at the end is worth it! The diabetic diet did keep me from gaining a lot of weight in the last few months of pregnancy, so there was a lot less baby weight to lose. I was back to normal after each birth and don't have diabetes now.
Good luck with the remainder of your pregnancy! Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions or just need to talk to someone who's been there.

Hi there little momma. Congratulations, first of all. Besides our crafting ADD, we now have something else in common - GD. I was diagnosed during the 7th month of my pregnancy with my son - only about 8 weeks to watch my diet and check my sugar levels. With my daughter, I was immediately sent to the nutritionist and had to manage my levels throughout the entire pregnancy. I have to say, it was the best I have felt in my whole life. The diabetic diet is such a "smart" way to eat. It really was not terrible for me. I wrote down everything I ate, checked my blood sugar 5 times a day, and walked every day. I was literally "all baby", not much weight gain at all. My diet was very simple -- somedays my food journal would just say "ditto yesterday", but I was totally fine with that. You will learn what your body can and cannot handle. I only had to call in to the nurse twice because of elevated sugar levels, and they both came when I ate a bagel for lunch. Not what you would think. By adding good, healthy protein to those lunches, I could have avoided the high levels altogether. I should have put turkey, or cheese, or peanut butter on the bagel, but I only used butter. I really learned a lot during those months! I could go on and on, and would be happy to do so, but only if you're willing to listen to my rambling. I'll be happy to help however I can. Take good care. Grace and Peace. ~Carrie

I remember my morning sickness experienced. It was so intense and horrible. There were days when I just could not get out of bed. I avoid foods which smells that make my nausea worse. These are my suggested Snacks to Eat:Lemons,ginger tea, ginger jam on toast,Crackers,Jell-O,Pretzels and Flavored Popsicle.
