What's a woodland themed party without mushrooms?
I found this tutorial on Martha Stewart and it's a MUST make for the party.
I could not believe how easy it was to make and how awesomely vintage they turned out.
I whipped up nine of them in no time.
and took two toadstools, a little hot glue, moss, a small wooden plaque, a teeny tiny wooden flower pot and made this. So cute, ay? I feel like it needs something.
And so I made a little banner. I'm still figuring out what to put on the banner and then hang it from the mushrooms. Maybe, "Stella" or "Happy 1st"?
Hmmm... what do you think?
As for the other lovelies, I'm thinking of having them around the house. They're just too darn cute.
What a wonderful place, yes? You can get lost in here. Sooo much inspiration and great ideas for just anything. Here's one of the many pins I have on my board:
This past weekend I decided to give it a go.
"Yay or nay", you say?
I whipped it up for a Sunday morning treat before church and the girls devoured it. The texture is light, very moist and fluffy. When it bakes, it takes the shape as how you scoop into the muffin pan. I love it! No froo-frooness about it. You could sprinkle a light dusting of powder sugar or drizzle a glaze, but really... it doesn't need it. From the oven to your mouth goodness.
Yummm!
I have been a very, VERY good girl this year. I've done my chores, cooked and have been a good mommy and wife. So please-oh-please can you bring me a Lytro? I promise to stop dipping into the M&M jar when nobody is looking and give hubby extra kisses.
Sincerely,
Venus
Lala's first birthday...
It was a toss up between Yo Gabba Gabba or a woodland theme.
Whoa, either end of the spectrum, I know. So when I saw this little guy,
it was a no brainer. How stinkin' cute to have this little fella sitting on top of the cake?! I'm still debating how to paint him... all white? Color?
What do you think?
Here's some Pinterest finds:
DJ Lance and crew can wait until birthday #2.
Time is of the essence so if you have any fun ideas, feel free to thow some ideas my way!
OoooOOOoo...
Oh what evil lurks among the Perez household. First it hit me over the weekend, then little Lala and know it has a grip on our middle child, Miss Lily Moon. As it slowly consumes us, I try with all my might to get things done. Moms are strong... tough... NOTHING gets us down!
No sir!!!
Amidst the chaos and snot, here's a look back at some of my ol' tutorials for Halloween fun. Sick or not, Halloween is coming.
So feast your eyes on more crafting possibilities!

I have new tutorials in the works:
-Haute Couture T-shirt reconstruction (finally, a proper tutorial from this post)
-Baby bubble shorts (cute, simple and stylish)
-Paper Mache Toadstool glow lamp (you're gonna LOVE this one!)
These three are sure to please, so come on back and I'll have other news and goodies in between. Oh and speaking of goodies...
it's been a very loooong time since I've had a giveaway. Hmmm... and with the holidays around the corner, I think it's perfect timing for a little THANK YOU to all my friends. So keep your eyes peeled! ***wink-wink***
in the meantime, keep crafting!
So last week, I was helping a good friend of mine do some last finishing touches on her store. When she opened her first shop, I was one of her first employees. There, I too helped paint a mural in the bathroom (as usual, no picture) and a few inspirational words around the store.
I guess she likes my work. She asked me for ideas on what to do for this store. I looked around and said, "Chalkboards! How about chalkboards around the shop?".
And that's what we did.
Six 8'x 2' chalkboards are hung throughout the shop. Let me just say, I LOVE typography. I used to make huge posters for my daughters' school back in the day. Like 20' long posters, using those gigantic markers. Oooowee! After a few minutes drawing with those things, you start feelin' happy loopy.
So drawing on these size boards seemed pretty easy. Right? So I thought.
and erase. Draw and erase again.
After 4 hours of drawing and erasing, I was almost finished witht he first board. "Okay... not bad. Hmmm..."
I just wasn't completely sold on the design. So Jen (the owner), had a go with it. For another hour we racking our brains with this stupid board, trying to finish it.
"Screw it, Jen. Let's hang it up and see what it looks like"
She hung it up.
Damn it...
I HATED it. Not what was in my head.
I love Dana Tanamchi's works, and wanted to do something cool like that. But somehow the translation from my brain to my hand was lost. Damn you hands!!! So, I erased it.... a-gain.
Poop happens. You just gotta deal with the smell and move on.
This is what we ended with. MUCH better!
AH! SOOOO much better. One side down...
Done!
I am happy.
So after the chalkboards, it was on to the backsplash towards the back of the store.
We wanted to carry the chalkboard theme throughout so the backsplash was...
yup,
you guessed it.
A chalkboard.
Here is some of Dana's work that inspired us:
If you haven't seen or heard of her before, you HAVE to go here. She is amazing. Make sure to watch her time lapse video... OMG... mind blowing.
