I spotted these macabre lanterns in the latest issue of Martha Stewart's Living magazine.
In the magazine it calls for black card stock paper but my lovely assistant, Mike and I opted to use black foam board for a more substantial piece.
For the complete tutorial, go over to Martha's blog and type "hanging vellum Halloween lanterns" in the search box.

Take a look at what we did...
*It takes a while for the ink to dry on vellum paper so be careful!
We used black duct tape to attach the sides of the lantern together. Good ol' scotch tape was used to attach the vellum.
Now because this lantern has only three sides, Mike had to think of a clever way to attach the hook. Using the hot glue gun like there was no tomorrow, Mike was able to design a hook and attach it to one side. Clever...
Once the glue dried, we added a battery operated votive candle and it's ready!
These two lanterns are hung above our mantle and at night, it looks delightfully spooky! If time permits, I plan to make three more to hang in our kitchen. I'll show you that and give you a tour of our little haunted abode by next week... just in time for Halloween!
looooooooove it!!!
